FADOA In Action

Supporting AIDS Orphans in Africa

Since its founding in 2007, Friends of AIDS Orphans in Africa (FADOA) has been committed to improving the lives of AIDS orphans in Africa by ensuring access to education, dignity, and hope. Our work focuses on vulnerable children in Cameroon and Kenya, regions deeply affected by poverty, HIV/AIDS, and social instability.

FADOA’s Impact in Kenya

FADOKAT - Africa Trust

Friends of AIDS Orphans in Kenya, Africa Trust (FADOKAT) operates in the Mount Kenya region, specifically in Ngorano, near Karatina in Central Kenya—a remote rural area with a high prevalence of HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty.

FADOKAT works closely with a local community-based organization (CBO), the Edith and Justus Kahiga PCEA Ngorano Memorial Orphanage, to identify and support children most in need.

Education Support for AIDS Orphans

In response to an urgent appeal, FADOKAT provided critical educational support to 25 orphaned children, ranging from pre-school to high school level:

School fees (Enrollment requirement)
Tailored School uniforms
Durable Shoes
Books, pens, pencils & supplies
Sanitary pads for adolescent girls

"FADOKAT has provided long-term sponsorship to one orphaned girl in Ngorano—supporting her through primary school and later through secondary education at Tumutumu High School. This sustained investment demonstrates how donor support can transform a child’s future."

Kiambu Project: Wendani Women's Group

In Kiambu, FADOA partners with the Wendani Women's Group, a grassroots organization dedicated to supporting HIV-positive single mothers and widows.

This partnership provides a vital safety net for families affected by HIV/AIDS, offering moral support, food security, and community care when parents are too ill to work.

"Groups such as the Wendani Women's Group are few and far between. They take in those rejected by their own families due to stigma, providing the care needed to get back on their feet."

Education Amid Conflict

Since 2023, ongoing conflict has forced families to flee rural areas. School-aged children are relocating to Wum Central for safety, leading to overcrowding and increased dropout rates.

"By providing uniforms and books, FADOA helps remove key barriers to education—keeping children in school despite HIV/AIDS, conflict, and displacement."

Impact: 60 Children

Empowered to stay in school through the 2025 academic cycle.
